What is a Fuel Cell?

A Fuel Cell in its basic form is an electrochemical cell that converts a source of fuel into an electrical current. The electrical current can then be used to power almost any electrical device such as the traditional electrical motor.

Currently there are many types of Fuel Cell on the market that use different types of fuel to generate their electrical current, however the most popular type has emerged as the Hydrogen powered Fuel Cell.

This is widely considered to be the most popular because of its good efficiency and the fact that the only by-product of producing the electrical current is water, which makes them very environmentally friendly.

Some forms of Fuel Cell (Solid Oxide Fuel Cells) use more traditional types of fuel such as Butane, Methanol and other Petroleum based substances, while others (Molten Carbonate Fuel Cells) use a liquid based fuel. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages when it comes to efficiency and pollutants.

Race Car Consultants and Fuel Cell Technology

Much like the Internal Combustion Engine replaced the Steam Engine, Race Car Consultants firmly believes that Fuel Cell Technology will eventually replace the current breed of both petrol and diesel powered road and race cars.

As the need increases for sustainable, environmentally friendly and efficient forms of energy, it seems that the day of the internal combustion engine are limited and that Fuel Cell technology is currently the biggest contender to inherit its throne as the propulsion source for most forms of automotives across the World.

To this end we are actively involved in developing and exploring the potentials of Fuel Cell technologies within the Motorsport industry, for use in wider applications throughout the world.

Race Car Consultants has a number of technical partners that are working towards the united goal of making Fuel Cell Technology widely available to the entire Automotive Industry.

If you would like any further information regarding our Fuel Cell plans or would like to become a strategic partner for the future please feel free to contact us with any queries you may have.
